From Monday 2 November to Thursday 5 November inclusive, Fløibanen and our visitor facilities will be closed for scheduled maintenance on the funicular. We reopen on Friday 6 November.
We will also use these days to carry out maintenance on the tracks, funicular route, buildings, outdoor areas and ticketing system.
The ticket office at the lower station will remain open from 10:00 to 15:00.
The toilets behind Fløistuen Kafé are open from 08:00 to 21:00.
The wheelsets and their associated braking systems are due to be replaced. Fløibanen has operated for 10,300 hours over 4.5 years, bringing us close to the supplier’s limit of 12,000 hours or six years for a complete overhaul of the wheelsets.
In November, the Fløibanen carriage Blåmann will receive a brand-new wheelset. The work will be carried out by the funicular supplier Garaventa at Fjellveien station. The wheelset removed from Blåmann will be sent to the supplier in Switzerland for an overhaul. It will then be returned to Bergen and fitted to Rødhette between 15 and 18 February 2027. Fløibanen will also be closed on these dates.
We know many of you are looking forward to visiting Fløyen, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the closure. You can still walk up and enjoy the spectacular views of Bergen.
Fløibanen and all our venues will reopen on Friday 6 November.
